Oh, hello there

My last article was put up in July and then I went silent. It seems to be a fact of life that I stop creating at a random interval and have a problem restarting. I haven’t been standing still and not doing anything, but it sure seems like it.

I wish I could see the problems coming so I could dodge them. I know you can prevent being eaten by a Grue by not wandering around in the dark, but I haven’t broken the code on avoiding the dreaded dry spell.

Since I don’t seem to be capable of doing that, I’ll just commit to a few things to get the ball rolling again.

I’ve got several articles underway and I want to roll them all out before the end of the year. Here’s what I want to do-

I have an update, and what is looking like the final chapter, to the saga of the Massive Misfit. I do need to develop some more film and do some scanning but the rest of it is done. I am pleased with the results, even if they are a little quirky.

One of the long time concerns I have about film photography is the longevity and viability of the medium. What is the future of film, and will it be sustainable? I have a couple of possible answers.

I’ve undertaken a pretty significant upgrade of my video production abilities, and I want to do a day trip to film. A new video and audio editing workstation, new video camera, and an all new audio suite for voice over and possibly podcast production are up and running. The next video will be the first in the transition to 4K, and plans for even more and better things are underway.

I’m not going back to the two updates a week schedule, absent sponsorship, a lottery win, or a wealthy patron. I’m not pretty enough for an OnlyFans page, so that’s not an option. I also have some long term projects percolating that may take months. One may take a year. We will see.

In the mean time, you good folks stay safe. Take care of yourselves and each other.

I’ll see you out there.

” I’m not pretty enough for an OnlyFans page,”

Well, if we never see a pic of you, how can we determine that? 😉

Anyways, did you receive the package of stuff I sent a little while back?

Well, I do have a “The photographer, the shot” thing in an upcoming piece, so you get to see the picture my wife took from behind me while I was awkwardly trying to hold a 4×5 and meter with an iPhone app at the same time. One day I’ll think something through before doing it.

And yes I did! Sorry I hadn’t opened it sooner, but it got swept up in a deluge of junk mail and buried until I unearthed it this week. By the way, you know you’ve hit a certain age when all your junk mail looks important but is actually just life insurance solicitations because your demise is now imminent.

This is exceedingly cool. The Bikes and Film Cameras Club is an awesome idea! The Half Frame Journal is well done, very professional. You’re very talented Shawn. I hope there are many more of these to come! I’ve never used a half frame camera, but now I’m curious. The thought of as 72 frame roll is a bit daunting, though. The images are perfect, if I could draw that well I wouldn’t need a camera. I’ll engage in some stickering at the local photographic center, see if that leads to recruits, I’m renewing my membership to get access to the new darkroom. I’ll also send you the membership fee, so you can keep it going!

      Thanks again!
